A bit more about the place…
There are many things about this land that are rare in situation…it is permanently private…no homes will ever be built on any side as the north and east sides are private timber land, the south side is BLM(Dept. of Interior)and the west is the west pasture up to Middle Creek rd. With Middle Creek running through the center of the property north to south, the house is behind that riparian treeline, and across the gated bridge..not seen from the road. No power lines are running through the air to the home as they were buried and carried across under the bridge…then underground to the structures. The 89′ (guardrailed and fenced) railcar bridge was engineered on “Hilficker” supports, and will support very heavy weight and last a very long time. The property is situated in a valley that sits north/south, and is thereby able to enjoy a full sweep of the sun. The 100 yr. old southend timber is far from the gardens and orchard and so casts no winter solstice shadow on them. The amount of timber standing on the land is more than adequate to re-build a home, and a great variety of tree species have been planted all around the perimeter to insure plenty of firewood and privacy as well as botanical interest. Both the east and west (of the river) pastures are fenced and have been kept trim and lush by the goats and llamas. With a mix of fescue, timothy, and trefoil clover, a good cutting of nutritious hay is ripe to bale every season..and ample storage (8 ton+/-)in the large and small barn is available. There are deeded water rights to the spring and river, and a complete irrigation system of spigots along underground pipes running through both gardens and orchard.
The flower gardens are rock-bordered cottage-style, completely surrounding the house and studio. Rowed grapes, berries and perennial veggies..as well as a very large (80 x 100) annual vegetable garden patch grace the land, just beyond the front and back lawns near the house. For the entire 27 years I have been here this land has been gardened by organic methods.
What I wish to do in my life now involves handing the reins over to another steward(s)..and my hearts intention is for them to see, feel and understand this place..maybe a family that is looking to step into this nearly self-sufficient organic farm on the edge of nature…or group that sees the potential…the future is wide open….
