Summer eve at Bandon beach
Only a 40 minute drive away is the world famous Oregon Coast.  Taking the highway 42S out of Coquille brings you to Bandon-by-the-sea. The Old Town shops there are a favorite for art and book shopping as well as sitting down to some first rate seafood. Crabbing and fishing are very good from the jetty and dock, and for an amazingly beautiful walk, you can head out to either the lighthouse(north jetty)or the south jetty beach access.  Tidepools and seastacks stretch for miles to the south where sealions, harbor seals, and a large variety of seabirds make these giant rocks their home. Agate hunting, and surfing are other favorite pastimes well as storm-watching when the Pacific rails against the shore with gale-force winds and 25′ waves. Either direction, north or south, you drive along this coast, you will find amazing beauty…and quaint little seaside towns.
